    Why is that? I bet that everyone on this forum has one hiding away somewhere! Smile There were a lot of great games for this system too!

    Or perhaps it's because it's not so much 'classic' yet? It still being sold and all?

    Come on people! show Sony's "Supercomputer" some love!

    Even though it killed the Dreamcast

    I really liked seeing a forum where the PS2 board went completely ignored. You just ruined it. ;3

    To me, PS2 doesn't feel retro/classic enough lol

    I consider retro anything below the PS2 (Dreamcast and under)

    Because even to this day, they make new PS2 games

    I've always viewed Sony's consoles as sort of utilitarian ... I have it because there's games on it ... doesn't mean I have to like it :p
    So ... sure I have one, sure I have a bunch of games on it ... but I don't generally care for the console.

    But, considering PS2 is 10 years old (And Dreamcast is barely one year older), I guess we can talk about some favorite games on it.

    Outside of the obvious goodies, like Shadow of the Colossus, I really love the Onimusha games.

    I don't really understand this. This is how I view ALL consoles. lol. I have the systems to play the games I want to play.

    It's kind of hilarious seeing people play favorites with pieces of plastic.

    Though to be fair, I can totally see disliking it because it's physically built poorly. But I have had a PS2 fat for 8 years, dropped it numerous times, and never had trouble with it. Smile

    Also: Yes. I don't think PS2 should count as retro until another couple of years. Whenever the first in the next set of consoles comes out. (Probably the next Nintendo)

    I have Sonic Unleashed for it, and the graphics are amazing.

    So I don't really consider it retro Razz

    The PS2 is the generation before this one. It's not retro until the PS4 comes out and even then it's hard to consider it 'retro'... It's design isn't very aged either, even though it's far from stylish.

    I'm looking at this from the perspective of "LATE PS1 titles were considered retro by 2006-2008. Let alone EARLY titles."

    PS2 could have been considered retro long ago, but considering how successful it was I can see the argument. Won't be long until Final Fantasy X is considered a retro classic, gentlemen. May as well get used to it early!

    Really? I did not consider the PlayStation Retro until 2009 when it turned 15, because of it's long lifespan. That's the problem with these consoles and why the Dreamcast was considered retro by 2004, they just keep living!

    Shit man when I was 15 Vice City was still the latest, greatest thing you could have for PS2. Good times. No way that game (or GTA3, especially) isn't considered retro now.

    Well, all things considered: We're talking classics here!

    I think it's entirely possible for non-retro consoles to have 'classics'

    * Okami
    * ICO
    * Silent Hill 2
    * Metal Gear Solid 3

    Possibly even the PS3 has classics now?

    What's the point of liking any platform over another then? What's the point of being on a retro-fan-themed forum in that case? The majority of "great games" were on, or eventually on, multiple platforms anyway. It's perfectly possible to like some games on a platform, but not like the platform itself.

    I don't.

    To talk about cool old video games. I stopped caring about platform preferences after elementary school where Genesis vs. SNES arguments literally broke out into physical fights. I don't even care about the Saturn's snail-paced load times, or the Xbox's giant original controller, or the Dreamcast's blaring machinery noise when the disc is spinning, or even the flood of FMV games on Sega CD.

    I guess so. I guess I just like video games as a whole and can find a reason to love any console. Smile I'm not trying to start an argument, btw. Just met ya and all and don't want you getting the wrong idea about me. Just discussing.

    I agree with TMM. We're Talking Classics, not just retro. Plus, Keith carries a gamecube strapped to his waist, which is the same generation as the PS2 and Xbox...so I think we're safe.

    And since we're talking PS2, I love the Jak and Daxter series. That's some good platforming...even if there was a lot of driving in the later titles.

    Hmmm, even though it may not be a classic system it had some of my favorite games like Kingdom Hearts 2, Grand Theft Auto 3, and Ico.
