Since we're getting all of those "get to know the board" threads in the forums, let's do this one!

I'm going to consider my answer to be "What was my first turn-based jRPG?"

That would be Final Fantasy VI (or 3 as it was known then) Even when I was 6, Kefka was pretty awesome. And fabulous. This is some Hirohiko Araki shit going on here.

My first one was Guardian's Crusade a.k.a. Knight & Baby on the PS1. Looking back at on the game, it wasn't all that great but I really enjoyed it at the time and it led me down the road to discovering all the other JRPGs that I still enjoy playing today. You played as the characters Knight and the creature Baby, and collected "Living Toys" that could aid you in battle.

FF VI (or 3), I'm pretty certain was my first too. You know, for how many times I've played that game, I've never beaten Kefka. Not that I don't think I could, I just never tried. Every time I made it to the very end I would spend a whole crap ton of time learning spells from Espers, then just get burned out and quit.

    Chrono Trigger in 1996.

Though, now that I think about it I DID play Dragon Quest 2 before then, just never for long.

First one I ever played was Final Fantasy on NES. I didn't actually finish it until just about entering middle school, though. Had a tough time understanding what to do when I was a kid, and had finished II on SNES by then so I had a better idea of what to do.

The first RPG I really got sucked into was Pokémon Blue. Even bought a copy of Pokémon Red and a link cable so I could catch 'em all.

It was Pokemon Blue, which was the main cause of me learning how to read Razz

It's hard to say what my first RPG experience was. Thinking back it might have been Dragon Quest, or Dungeons and Dragons: Warriors of the Eternal Sun back in 1990-'91.

Before that I had played plenty of adventure games though, like Zelda, Zelda 2: The Adventures of Link, and Adventure.

THe first RPG that I obsessed over though was Shining Force. To this day I feel it's one of the most amazing franchises of all time.

My first was Pokemon Red, and ever since, I've been obsessed with RPGs.

Quest for Glory: So You want To Be A Hero. I got into that one in 1989. I tried lots of RPGs but Quest for Glory was the first that I sat down and played. that game was frustratingly hard at times. the coolest part was you could choose one of three characters, a Fighter, Wizard, or Thief. All the puzzles would change depending on which character you play.

    Quest for Glory on Wiki

    funny coincidence...
the first video of Nathan's I ever saw was this. I was looking for a Quest for Glory playthrough instead
